Legal Counsel - Litigation The candidate will be responsible for risk management, dispute, resolution, litigation and related matters for all firm lines of business in the U.S. and Canada, which may involve the management of complex commercial claims, employment disputes, franchise litigation, intellectual property litigation, personal injury and property damage litigation, and dealings with government agencies, among other areas of responsibility. Will be client-focused, attentive to detail, business-minded, highly responsive, and able to offer sound legal advice within the commercial overlay of each scenario. Management of day-to-day and high-visibility pre-litigation disputes and lawsuits filed by or against the company, including interactions with government agencies, which may involve leading internal discovery efforts and attending key depositions, mediation, trials and participating in other related events as necessary, litigation, and risk management issues. Analysis of legal risks related to complex business situations and commercial agreements, as well as the development of practical recommendations that meet the commercial and legal needs of the company while best positioning the company to avoid or be prepared for litigation.

The candidate should have JD degree from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in one or more states in the U.S. Must have experience of 4-6 years of substantive litigation , preferably including experience at a large law firm. Experience with a broad range of commercial litigation matters, preferably including complex, commercial litigation, employment litigation, franchise litigation, intellectual property, litigation, personal injury and property damage litigation, and dealings with government agencies needed. Significant experience with all phases of litigation, including courtroom advocacy, oral and written discovery, negotiation and alternative dispute resolution essential.
