Senior Counsel The candidate supports and may handle corporate litigation against the company arising from multiple subject matters and includes single plaintiff and class action litigation. Works closely with other attorneys to manage outside counsel, develop litigation strategy and evaluate exposures on litigation matters filed by or against the family of companies. Provides full legal service to one or more assigned areas. Works on basic cases and/or projects without supervision. Works on more complex cases and/or projects with minimal supervision. Supports assistant general counsel or lead counsel with legal questions or issues. Focuses on client relationships and legal matters. Exercises judgment in matters which have potential for a significant impact on the company. Works on legal matters that are moderately important, risky or complicated. Researches legal precedents, defines legal and factual issues, drafts necessary legal documents and develops conclusions and recommendations. Usually deals with non-management associates and lower to middle management of the Department or the Company on legal matters within his or her area of legal expertise. Has virtually no input into Company decision-making. Requires moderate supervision and/or coaching from manager on legal work or client interaction. Typically receives matters from a Lead Counsel, Managing Counsel or non-management associates and lower to middle management of the Company. Keeps informed of new legislative and case law activity in area of expertise and informs manager. May train or mentor less experienced attorneys or paralegals on procedural or legal issues. Occasionally leads teams on tasks, projects or assignments. Performs other related duties as assigned. The candidate should have J.D. Degree from an accredited law school. Must be currently licensed as an attorney in an appropriate U.S. jurisdiction. Should have 5+ years of litigation experience. Should have a moderate amount of experience in an area of legal expertise. Knowledge of legal practices and procedures is needed. Project management concepts and techniques is needed. Should have Oral and written communication skills for contacts with all levels of management and clients.
