Director, State Government Affairs Duties: Will manage organization s strategic state-based government affairs agenda, including company and state-specific legislative and regulatory initiatives, under direction of Executive Director of Government Affairs. Collaborate with entire US-based government affairs team to carry forward US management s priorities in state legislative and regulatory environment. Provide secondary support, as directed, to company's group at EU and international levels, both internally and externally on state regulatory developments as relate to global strategy. Determine and execute on identified local, state, and NAIC focused initiatives designed to achieve overarching policy strategy and goals, as directed by Executive Director of Government Affairs. Coordinating with US [and NV, as appropriate] Government Affairs team, develop the organization s positions on regulatory issues critical to the organization. Work closely with federal and international government affairs peers within the organization to build cohesive, and coordinated operation and policy approach. In consultation with broader management team, identify and affirmatively manage NAIC and state-specific legislative and regulatory developments that could either create value to the organization or cause it strategic/financial harm. Position and leverage the organization, at state, NAIC and trades, as a key, impactful leader on public policy and government affairs initiatives relevant to the organization s vision, mission and goals. Build and leverage influential working relationships with key thought leaders in the states, including other insurers, the NAIC, ACLI and state trades. Lead organization s NAIC team of experts. Oversee and manage outside relationships with law firms and lobbyists engaged on state-specific engagements. Ensure the organization s state government relations activities are timed and positioned with other functional areas within the organization to provide a cohesive voice and ensure a smooth intersection of programs. Manage designated Government Affairs staff. Conform with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules. Exhibit regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance. Perform other duties as assigned based on divisional needs.

Qualification Requirements: A J.D. degree or equivalent is highly preferred. 5+ years of relevant government affairs or related experience. Technical expertise in or enhanced familiarity with complex life insurance, investment, and retirement products, services, and means of distribution preferred. Familiarity with comparative accounting systems and capital frameworks preferred. Superior analytical and leadership skills with the ability to achieve results in a complex virtual environment. Ability to articulate the organization ?¢s positions in an impactful and persuasive manner to senior decision makers and industry leaders. Ability to work closely and effectively with core government affairs team.
