Legal Counsel, Corporate Generalist Duties: Employment Law: Management of sensitive legal issues such as employee relations issues Litigation: Management of litigation and collaboration with business personnel on strategy IP Law: Non disclosure agreements; licensing agreements; consultation on IP, IT, marketing and promotions legal issues Regulatory: Research new regs affecting the business in all areas; conveying them to the business; developing compliance programs surrounding the reg in cooperation with the Import/Export/Customs: Experience working with CBP, brokers, tax and duties issues, transfer pricing General provision of legal advice to business and operational employees of company Support General Counsel in providing legal advice to board of directors, NASLT, business and operational employees Directs and manages support staff; helps to prioritize their work; gives feedback on their development and progress Commercial Law: Contract negotiation, drafting, review; recommending solutions and mitigating risk Corporate Law: Corporate structuring, governance, navigation of tax issues, transactional document review Real Estate Law: Lease drafting, review; landlord disputes; easements; zoning; use restrictions Business owners (i.e. FDA, USDA, EEOC, DOT, etc.). Supports all business units and all divisions in US and Canada from the legal perspective. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (preferably in Finance or Business) is required Law Degree (JD Degree) is required Admitted to State Bar of Michigan / License to Practice Law required 5 10 years of post licensure legal experience required in 2+ of the substantive areas described above. Experience working as an in house lawyer (Fortune 500 or comparably sized food industry company with a small legal department is a plus) In lieu of the specified experience requirements, a proven capability to perform the essential functions of the job, as demonstrated by an equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant work experience may be considered. Excellent business acumen and communication, presentation skills. Excellent time and case management skills; ability to shift quickly between substantive areas of law in a fast paced environment. English fluency required, additional French or Spanish fluency preferred.
