Corporate Vice President & General Counsel - Legal & Corporate Affairs Duties: Acts in the key leadership role for Legal, Patent, and Communications functions. Manages the leadership team responsible for setting the overall philosophy and strategy for US Affiliates Legal matters and communications. Oversight on legal matters to ensure that all practices, policies, and business activities of the organization fall within the bounds of the organization s legal posture. Oversight on communication strategies that drive business and policy priorities, and shape company reputation. Serves as a member of the Executive Team. Reports to the SVP, Head of North America Operations and President. Manages multiple functional areas including: Intellectual Property, Litigations, Corporate Affairs and Communications. Interacts with various departments. Serves as a point of contact for high profile individuals, organizations, key government agencies and outside law firms. Participates as an active member of the Executive Team in setting and achieving the strategic goals of the company. Maintains constructive relationships with outside Legal communities within the US in order to enhance corporate identity. Provides legal guidance to the Executive Team as it relates to operations, using business and legal judgment to help balance appropriate level of risk against business needs Acts as a trusted business partner to internal customers, providing advice, guidance and business minded solutions with risk and legal considerations in mind Develops effective working relationships with appropriate colleagues in Denmark to ensure organizational alignment and attainment of specified goals. Oversight of communications strategies that drive business priorities, and shape its reputation. Oversight of Communications function to ensure strategic direction and priorities are integrated in a plan that aligns with the and internal and external corporate brands. Ensures the communications function strategy and plan encompasses all aspects of the value chain (discovery, manufacturing and commercialization). FISCAL: Accountable for strategic management and oversight of the Legal and Corporate Affairs department budgets to target levels and ensures that budget remains on track.

Qualifications: A JD Degree with 15+ years of legal experience of which 6 years include in-house corporate legal experience. Proven understanding of national and international labor, trademark and copyright laws. 10+ years of previous leadership experience managing large teams. In-house experience required, preferably within the healthcare/pharmaceutical industry. State Bar admission required. Strong communication, presentation, and project management skills able to effectively collaborate and communicate with and present to senior management and other client groups within the company.
