Litigation Associate Attorney

Litigation Associate Attorney The candidate will assist the General Counsel of Litigation-Risk Services in handling and managing all aspects of potential, existing, and preventative litigation and risk matters for the entire company and all of its affiliates, including to matters involving professional liability, survey/regulatory, employment, general liability, administrative appeals, and contracts, as well as high level internal company investigations. Will assist with the investigation of existing and potential claims, including but not limited to interviewing witnesses, gathering and reviewing documents, and creating investigation files this may include, on an as needed or event basis, taking calls and responding to and following up on the company s 24/7 high risk event reporting line and/or the company s 24/7 employee, family, and resident reporting line. Have and further develop (or be willing to further develop) skills in healthcare collections and the Medicaid approval process. Assist with the development and training of Stakeholder education in all litigation and risk prevention areas. Respond to verbal or written questions and concerns daily from Stakeholders customers, and other legal counsel. Assist with the development, organization, maintenance of other global risk organizational needs (i.e. enterprise risk, board reporting, etc). Serve on lead internal company committees, as assigned. Assist with the review and revision of company policies and procedures, as needed. Research legal issues as needed. Keep informed and provide guidance regarding current state and Federal laws affecting the company s litigation and other risk matters. Represent the company in certain litigation, mediation, and administrative matters, as needed. Identify and participate in process improvement initiatives that improve the customer experience, enhance work flow, and improve the work environment.

The candidate should have JD Degree from an accredited US Law school. Should have 3-5 years of litigation experience. Must be LTC defense or medical malpractice casework. Eligible for KY Bar limited certificate of admission as in-house counsel. Demonstrated intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook, Internet and Intranet navigation. Company is paperless and uses electronic database claims management system.
