Vice President, Chief Litigation Counsel The candidate will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for the litigation team and oversee performance to ensure key business objectives are met. Being accountable for performing and managing all litigation activities on assigned matters through the trial and appellate stages, including among other things research, pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, conferences, trials, mediations, arbitrations, appeals. Managing an annual litigation budget (approx. $4.5M) and expenses. Overseeing government investigations. Recommending key legal and litigation strategies and resolutions to senior management and the Board. Being charged with overseeing internal procedures and standards for document discovery and preparing and reviewing court filings. Developing trial strategies and keep team current on a wide range of best practices. Full management responsibility of professional staff (attracting, retaining and developing talent). Manage multiple, large-scale and complex litigation, as well as teams (with both internal and external partners). Select and manage outside counsel. Guide and advise team members in the more complex phases of work. Embody utmost collaboration, active listening, and strategic thought, and develop these skill sets in team. Provide appropriate opportunities for professional growth and development of team members. Promote a culture that reflects company s core values of Collaboration, Innovation, Wellness and Inclusion

The candidate should have JD Degree from ABA accredited school. Must be licensed eligible to practice in California or New York. MBA, LLM or CPA is a plus. Should have 15+years of experience with a sterling reputation. Must have understanding of the financial services industry is required and experience gained in investment management, consumer financial services, payments, processing, financial technology or another diversified financial services firm. Must be sitting leader at a company with proven In-House experience leading and managing a team of experience lawyers and litigation professionals. Demonstrate a track record of experience partnering well with Compliance and Regulatory experts. Must have particular expertise litigating complex regulatory matters and government investigations and will be well-suited to navigate and assess litigation risks in a high-stakes and highly-regulated environment.
