VP Litigation Attorney The candidate will be member of company s litigation group which manages company s contested litigation, primarily involving foreclosure-related litigation arising in company s servicing of residential mortgages. The position has overall responsibility for managing a portfolio of contested lawsuits and working with a team of professional paralegals and other attorneys. Provide assistance to the litigation group through analyzing current legal issues relevant to the business' clients. Manage mortgage litigation as well as manage issues that arise across the mortgage litigation docket. Close collaboration with department paralegals to manage mortgage litigation. Engage, manage, and direct outside counsel in representation of the business in particular matters in litigation. Periodically attend mediations, settlement conferences, and trials as corporate representative. Provide legal services to the business in connection with mortgage litigation matters. Identify, communicate, and serve as legal resource to the business and other functional departments in helping address potential legal risks and issues impacting the business in connection with mortgage litigation. A High School Diploma required. Must possess a law degree from an accredited law school and be admitted to practice and in good standing in at least one state; Texas, Florida, California, or New York preferred. Must be proficient at pleading and document drafting, with a full understanding of all phases of litigation with an emphasis on discovery and motion practice. Ability to manage multiple projects to completion along with a diverse docket of cases. Real estate title and bankruptcy knowledge a plus. Should have experience working in and with litigation case management software as well as mortgage loan servicing software such as MSP, Vendorscape, LPS Desktop are all a plus. Must have a working knowledge of various Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel.
