Senior Privacy Counsel The candidate will provide practical and timely advice on innovative uses of personal data. Be part of a growing team that has executive support in advancing the company s data privacy compliance program. Build a sustainable and practical privacy compliance program that will serve as a model for others to follow. Serve as a valued and trusted subject matter expert to all levels of PRA and seen as a business enabler on cutting edge privacy issues. Work in an environment where the goal is to provide proactive support rather than deal with endless fire drills. Responsible for providing legal advice and counsel regarding privacy and data protection matters for the company on a global basis. This position also will provide support to other legal teams, including the IP & Vendor Contracts team, with reviewing, drafting and negotiating privacy/data protection terms in a variety of contracts and legal documents for compliance with applicable laws and the firm s practices and standards. Provide advice to all business units regarding privacy and data protection matters, including those arising from new product initiatives or new legal requirements. Business units supported include customer-facing business lines plus internal business lines, such as Enterprise Risk, HR, and IT. Advise on issues around collecting, sharing and accessing personal information, marketing to customers, and providing and honoring opt-in/opt-out choices. Provide management and business units with advice concerning new or changed laws and regulations and assists with assessing potential impacts to the firm. Work collaboratively with business units on how to implement privacy and data protection requirements and best practices, including assistance with drafting and reviewing policies and procedures. Serve as a representative on various firm-wide committees or working groups that deal with privacy, data governance, and/or technology matters. Provide advice regarding all phases of data incidents, including investigation, remediation, and notice to impacted parties and/or regulators. Law degree from an accredited law school and bar membership in at least one jurisdiction required. 7+ years of legal experience required. Significant experience working in an in-house legal department or law firm or compliance department with direct experience with data privacy required. Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) preferred. Certified Information Privacy Professional in Europe (CIPP/E) or within 3 months of hire preferred. Knowledge of industry standards affecting privacy and information security, such as NIST and ISO 27001/27002 preferred. Experience with negotiating with data protection authorities preferred.
