Counsel - Litigation The candidate will manage litigation by or against the company, including coverage and bad faith litigation, to provide coverage opinion advice, training, and ancillary litigation management within the purview of the Legal Department. Will supervise, manage and direct a caseload of litigation by or against the company to successful outcomes. Provide legal advice and support with respect to insurance policy analysis and interpretation. Ensure appropriate response to subpoena against the company, selection of panel counsel, and developing and delivering better litigation management processes. Participate in training and reporting trends and developments to key clients and stakeholders. Collaborate with internal partners in drafting, investigating, researching, and advising with respect to contracts, disputes, compliance, products, laws and regulations. Manage legal projects by defining scope, setting milestones, delegating tasks, tracking progress and reporting project results to ensure successful and efficient implementation. Adopt QBE values in personal work behaviors, decision-making, contributions and interpersonal interactions; manage own career development by soliciting feedback and valuing other perspectives. The candidate should have Doctoral Degree. Must have Juris Doctor Degree. Must have 5 years of relevant experience. Must have experience in a regulatory/compliance legal environment; increasing levels of responsibility. 10 years experience in handling insurance coverage and bad faith litigation and policy interpretation is preferred. Depending on assigned areas, specific experience in financial and specialty lines preferred. Must have Admissions to the Bar.
