Employment and Litigation Counsel The candidate will work on a wide variety of employment matters and defensive litigation support for the Company. Will be responsible for maintaining Company compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and foreign employment laws and regulations. Will work day-to-day with the Company s human resources team on employment actions spanning entire employee lifecycle. Responsibilities include legal review of employee handbooks, template agreements for severance, releases and notifications, internal investigations, leaves of absence, ERISA plans, compensation and benefits matters, recruiting and training materials and other employee related matters. Defensive litigation matters include responding to third-party inbound claims (e.g. interviewing witnesses, gathering, reviewing and analyzing relevant documents, and drafting responses to letters, discovery requests and briefs), working with the product teams and internal business leaders to resolve inbound claims, handling responses to third party subpoenas, and cost-effective, hands-on management of outside counsel. Exercising judgment to seek business solutions in light of risk implications, coordinating issue resolution and creative problem solving, dealing effectively with constituents within firm, and driving projects to closure.

The candidate must have JD with excellent academic credentials and California bar license or ability to practice in California as a registered in house counsel. Should have 5+ years of experience in employment law counseling at a top law firm, with a mix of law firm and in-house legal experience preferred. Prior experience with copyright (particularly the DMCA), trademark, trade secret and patent issues preferred. Prior commercial and copyright litigation experience at a technology company preferred. Must have excellent communication skills and personal confidence to be able to give legal opinions and risk assessment in a practical business oriented manner to senior executives, other members of the legal team and non-lawyer department representatives in the company in order to help reach solutions.
