Assistant General Counsel - Customs and International Trade The candidate will provide expert legal counsel to firm s global businesses to drive strategic solutions to optimize the payment of duties and taxes, maximize trade compliance, and facilitate the movement of products across international borders. Will collaborate with internal experts in the Legal Department as well as with Global Trade and Customs, Government and Public Affairs, Finance, Tax, Compliance, Sourcing and Manufacturing, and firm s business units around the world to address broad strategic issues. Working with the business on Customs Valuation (including transfer pricing, first sale for export, and treatment of royalties, commissions, and R&D); Customs Classification; and, Special Trade Programs. Supporting firm s businesses on audits and investigations by Customs and governmental authorities that regulate trade remedies (anti-dumping duties, countervailing duties, and safeguards). Bringing expertise to firm s businesses as they deal with market access, trade sanctions, and cargo security issues. Advising the business on legal, strategic, and compliance issues, provide analysis of legal risks, implement processes to ensure compliance, and help the business understand the importance and value of maintaining the highest business integrity. Sometimes, assist or advise on internal investigations. Speaking to groups of internal employees and external business partners to educate them on legal and compliance issues.

The candidate should have JD degree. Must be Member, in good standing, of at least one U.S. State Bar and willingness to commit to membership in the Oregon State Bar. Must have 5-7 years' experience in the practice of Customs and International Trade Law. Must have Law firm or experience in a senior government position or a corporate legal department with a focus in several of the following specialty areas: customs, customs compliance, trade remedies, or trade sanctions. General corporate, supply chain, transactional, and negotiation experience is a plus. Domestic and international experience is a plus. Demonstrated experience providing strategic guidance to a business is required.
