Director, Real Estate Counsel The candidate will represent the Company in all aspects of retail and corporate facility real estate transactions. Counsel, and strategically collaborate with, business partners across all brands, channels and regions. Manage the Company s existing real estate portfolio. Minimize risk while achieving the Company s business goals. Support day-to-day real estate operations. Resolve disputes and creatively solve problems. Contribute to cost savings initiatives. Specifically, individually or alongside senior counsel skillfully draft, review, and negotiate: Leases and related legal documentation such as modifications, terminations, SNDA s, and subleases for new and existing stores, corporate offices, and other facilities; Vendor contracts such as brokerage, consulting, architecture and construction agreements. Thoughtfully review and interpret leases for existing store fleet and corporate facilities in order to counsel business partners in real estate, retail, construction, architecture and design, operations, facilities, and accounting in day-to-day real estate operations. Monitor critical lease deadlines such as termination and renewal options and collaborate with business partners to execute real estate strategy. Assist with management and resolution of disputes with landlords including litigation and arbitration when necessary. Contribute efforts toward global cost savings initiatives such as lease audits. Oversee outside counsel and assist in supervising, training and mentoring paralegal staff. J.D. with excellent law school credentials and 2-4 years as attorney in transactional commercial real estate practice, specifically with experience in sophisticated commercial leasing required. Candidates from firms and in-house legal departments will be considered. Ability to: Prioritize and multi-task many competing projects in a fast-paced environment; Work independently or collaboratively as circumstances dictate; Show initiative, take ownership and follow up on matters from inception to completion; Pay strong attention to detail required.
