Environmental Regulatory Counsel The candidate provides health, safety and environmental compliance advice and due diligence for mergers and acquisitions. The position works with global and regional HSE subject matter experts to support manufacturing, research and sales operations. This position also consults with and advises senior management on HSE matters. This position reports to the Senior Director of the Regulatory Legal Team. Key Deliverables: Air, water, hazardous waste regulations and related permits and assists with developing/interpreting global policies regarding auditing and conformance to internal standards. Chemicals management regulations in the US, Europe and China, including TSCA, FIFRA, TTB, REACh, CLP, and Globally Harmonized System (GHS) and equivalent regulations globally. Dangerous Goods/Hazardous Materials transport regulations globally. Support remediation efforts at ongoing manufacturing operations, and off-site legacy liability sites. Manage long-term legacy liability portfolio, including advice regarding obtaining no further action determinations from regulatory authorities. Manage litigation aspects of long-term legacy portfolio in the United States and outside the United States. Advise regarding health, safety and environmental aspects of due diligence including participation in diligence reviews and developing health, safety and environmental diligence strategies. Negotiate and draft contractual terms related to health, safety and environmental aspects. Advise regarding appropriate contractual language for third party manufacturing and research organizations. Assist in evaluation of external party assessments. Advise regarding structure and governance of oversight of third parties.

The candidate should have Juris Doctor degree from an accredited U.S. law school. Must have 5+ years of experience legal counseling in environmental, health and safety matters, preferably in-house in an industry with manufacturing operations, including compliance counseling, permits, enforcement matters, environmental remediation and environmental due diligence in transactions. Experience working with legislation and regulations both in the United States and outside the United States is preferred. Demonstrated ability to direct and work effectively with outside counsel in multiple jurisdictions is preferred. Should have excellent communication skills including oral, written, and presentation skills; ability to communicate and deliver legal advice to customers in a clear, concise manner. Must have ability to interpret and apply standards from multiple jurisdictions and legal systems to different situations by understanding customer needs and application of sound problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others and influence without direct authority across multiple operational and functional areas is needed. Removal Date 16-Mar-2018.
