Counsel, Litigation and Compliance The candidate will provide legal support on a wide variety of litigation matters, including general liability, risk liability, labor and employment disputes. Will handle various types of investigations, including regulatory and other governmental inquiries, counseling, and compliance services. Responsible for development and implementation of strategies for the cost-efficient resolution of litigation and for the continuous improvement of legal compliance by the company. Provide practical legal advice, counsel, and support to all departments of the company to monitor and resolve various litigation and legal compliance issues including, but not limited to, labor and employment, risk/general litigation, and regulatory compliance matters. Decide litigation tactics and details by directing outside counsel through the litigation process. Prepare for and participate in the resolution process of disputes (e.g., risk/general, governmental investigation, employment). Identify legal risks in company activities and planning for minimization of those risks while balancing those risks against business opportunities. Identify and analyze legal issues, draft key documents, present clear recommendations, and assure legal compliance. Assist in developing and conducting preventative law programs for company employees. Manage and oversee discovery coordination, responses related to government inquiries and third-party subpoenas. Provide direction and oversight on electronic discovery collection, holds, and compliance. Work on legal compliance projects and other special projects, including but not limited to, new policies, trainings, templates and processes. Assist in conducting internal investigations into any allegations of violations of law or company policies. Conduct periodic audits of compliance programs and analyze results to propose revisions to compliance procedures and policies if needed. Update legal department on developments in the industry regarding key emerging legal and compliance risks and trends. The candidate must have Law degree from an accredited U.S. law school and admission and in good standing to at least one State Bar. Should have 5-7 years of experience. In-house experience preferred. Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both verbal and written is needed.
