Litigation Counsel The candidate s day-to-day responsibilities will include responding to third-party inbound claims (e.g. interviewing witnesses, gathering, reviewing and analyzing relevant documents, and drafting responses to letters, discovery requests and briefs), working with the product teams and internal business leaders to resolve inbound claims, handling responses to third party subpoenas, and cost-effective, hands-on management of outside counsel. Will be responsible for exercising judgment to seek business solutions in light of risk implications, coordinating issue resolution and creative problem solving, dealing effectively with constituents within the company and driving projects to closure. Active and strategic management of a diverse range of litigation matters in a wide range of practice areas and in numerous jurisdictions. Hands-on advice and counsel to various internal clients to proactively address and resolve potential disputes while providing risk mitigation advice to business clients while supporting business objectives. Collaborate with outside counsel to successfully, efficiently, and cost effectively resolve disputes and manage all aspects of outside counsel relationships, including staffing, litigation strategy, budgets, work product, discovery and developing initiatives for reducing outside counsel spend. Create processes and procedures to help support a rapidly-growing, global business. Be an active championship of the company s mission, ethics and integrity, including by ensuring that the Company s compliance policies are in practice and protect the company from risk, comply with all applicable local laws and regulations, and reinforce the company s values. J.D. with strong academic credentials and demonstrated record of success as a lawyer with membership of the state bar required. 8+ years of litigation experience, primarily defense-side required. Trial experience preferred. Demonstrated record for success strategizing, handling and managing complex disputes to successful resolution required. Proven ability to provide entrepreneurial, quick-thinking, pragmatic, business-oriented advice and to properly balance risks and business reward required. Broad base of substantive law relating to high technology companies required. Employment or IP experience and in-house law practice experience preferred. Ability to craft legal solutions in novel ways essential. Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to advocate for a position while maintaining collaborative and open-minded approach required.
