Director, Corporate Counsel The candidate will manage global claims and litigation, advising business partners on matters with potential litigation risk and providing appropriate legal guidance as and where needed to mitigate risk exposure in operations. Will manage a team of experienced support staff. Advise management regarding matters that may include or evolve into litigation risk. Partner with commercial teams to drive resolution of commercial disputes prior to litigation and without outside counsel involvement. Partner with global colleagues on the legal team on disputes and litigation. Directly manage or supervise outside counsel related to commercial litigation matters including contract disputes and third-party subpoenas. Preparation of company personnel for depositions and trial. Oversight and attendance at trials, mediations and depositions. Potentially supervise one or more internal resources including claims specialists. Monitor all global litigation matters and report to VP, Corporate Counsel, and Finance personnel any material matters and financial contingencies related to pending or threatened litigation. Manage costs and fees related to litigation in line with budgetary requirements. Oversight of internal litigation processes including legal holds, document collection and e-discovery. Establish and maintain positive relationships with in-house clients and customers. JD degree and member in good standing with the State Bar is needed. Must be an experienced litigator, with an emphasis on early and efficient resolution of disputes. Should have 7+ years of relevant experience with litigation and disputes. Experience with IP litigation is preferred. Prior knowledge and experience negotiating and drafting contracts and settlement agreements, with excellent attention to detail is needed. Must have experience working with and training non-legal colleagues. Familiarity with IP licensing and technology transactions is a strong preference.Exceptional interpersonal and communication skill is needed. Strong organizational and time-management skill is essential.
