Claims Counsel Employment Practices Liability The role: The primary role of Claims Counsel is to analyze liability claim submissions for potential coverage, set adequate case reserves, promptly and professionally respond to inquiries from our clients and their brokers, and to proactively drive early resolution of claims arising from our Executive Risks products, with a focus on Employment Practices Liability coverage. Independently manage book of Employment Practices Liability claims in accordance with Company s Values and the appropriate legal and regulatory framework. Timely and accurately evaluate coverage and draft position letters. Keep senior claims management timely and adequately informed of key claims and issues. Liaison directly with insureds, underwriters and brokers on a daily basis. Maintain timely and accurate file documentation. Maintain target service levels. Utilize broad handling authority to employ best practices and Company guidelines to reach early resolutions favorable to Company s customers and business. Strategize with insureds and defense counsel to develop and implement best plan to drive favorable resolution. Communicate clearly and professionally with defense counsel to gain early understanding of liability, risk exposure and costs. Continually assess exposures and adequacy of claims reserves. Proactively and professionally manage claim to control defense counsel and costs in cooperation with insureds and counsel. Actively monitor and participate in underlying negotiations/litigation. Attend mediations and/or settlement conferences where appropriate; travel as required. Drive employee engagement by exhibiting passion about the company, values, business and our customers.

The candidate should have JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school. Should have 2+ years Specialty Lines (preferably EPL) claims-handling experience. Bar admission in good standing. Ability to manage case load independently and meet deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong ability to establish rapport and build relationships with clients and internal stakeholders. Leadership and people management skills. Travel as required for mediations.
