Corporate Counsel - Mortgages The candidate will serve as the lead legal resource. Own a broad range of legal matters with a focus on licensing and other commercial contracts new product initiatives and compliance related requests that require legal analysis and advice. Work closely with the Mortech business development and compliance functions, helping to evolve processes as the business grows. Serve as the lead legal resource to compliance and regulatory team members who handle mortgage regulatory and state licensing matters. Provide legal advice on changes in state licensing-related laws. Provide legal counsel in connection with policies, procedures, and processes. Enjoy a mix of work that includes providing regulatory legal advice and negotiating some commercial contracts. Must have a JD degree with state Bar admission. Should have 4+ years of experience structuring, drafting, and negotiating data, software licensing, professional services, SaaS, and complex commercial agreements, ideally for financial institutions, mortgage brokers or FinTech companies in a corporate or law firm environment. Should have 2+ years of product counseling experience advising financial institutions or FinTech companies, ideally in connection with residential mortgage-related products. Must have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, tolerate change and ambiguity, including advising on matters of first impression. Experience providing timely, concise and business-focused legal advice on mortgage-related laws, including federal and state consumer financial laws and regulation like TILA, ECOA; data privacy laws; consumer protection laws; and new rules, enforcement actions and other guidance provided by agencies such as the CFPB and the FTC. Is required.
