Assistant General Counsel (Governmental Affairs) supporting and representing the company s government affairs activities by developing, managing and coordinating a comprehensive and pro-active portfolio of legislative and regulatory issues of importance to the company. will report to and work with the company s head of government affairs and will also be responsible for leading, directing and managing particular federal/state/local issues, as appropriate, based on the candidate s experience and interests. Issues of particular interest and concern to the company include chemical manufacturing, environmental issues, energy issues, transportation, trade, tax, safety and security. Engaging in and developing state and local government affairs activities and plans as needed and monitoring key state and local legislative and regulatory actions; fostering company relationships with industry and trade associations and engaging with key stakeholders; assisting with the management of the Political Action Committee; and ensuring company compliance with federal, state and local lobbying laws and reporting requirements. Advance the company s overall legislative and regulatory affairs and lobbying strategies by developing, managing, coordinating and implementing federal and/or state/local legislative and regulatory strategies to advance the company s interests, in conjunction with the head of s government affairs team and with other business executives from around the company and/or with associations. Provide advice and counsel to internal company executives, business units and stakeholders on federal, state and/or local legislative and regulatory issues of importance to the company. Collaborate with business unit executives and/or manufacturing leaders to develop and implement government affairs strategies and plans. Represent the company at meetings with legislators and staff and/or government agency officials and staff. Monitor, track and evaluate federal, state and local legislative and regulatory proposals of importance to the company. Foster company relationships with key industry and trade associations of which the company is a member and/or with other stakeholders and collaborate, on issues of mutual interest. Ensure company compliance with applicable federal/state/local lobbying laws and reporting requirements. Assist with activities, including representing the PAC at fundraising events and/or assisting with PAC management and internal efforts to increase the PAC size and its activities.

Qualifications: JD Degree with 10+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Congressional or state legislative experience; Federal or state agency experience; Industry association government affairs experience or In-house corporate government affairs experience. Candidates without one or more of the above sets of experience will be considered only if they have significant comparable experience or skills that can be clearly demonstrated. Licensed to practice to law in at least one state/jurisdiction and capable of waiving into other jurisdictions as appropriate. Knowledge of federal/state/local lobbying laws and regulations. One or more of the following are preferred: Experience in the chemical manufacturing industry or in manufacturing. Experience developing and implementing policy and government affairs initiatives within a corporate structure is valued as well as an understanding of key business issues. Experience with developing and managing state and local government affairs activities., layoff, recall, transfer, leaves of absence, compensation and training.
