Senior Counsel, Commercial Litigation The candidate will manage, direct, and supervise company commercial litigation matters, including internal staffing, pre-litigation dispute resolution, preparation and review of pleadings and other court documents, and advising business leaders on strategy and resolution of commercial matters. Will assist in the selection of outside counsel and directly oversee and manage outside counsel activities, budgets, and staffing. Represent the company in arbitration, mediation, and settlement negotiations of a full range of commercial litigation matters. Proactively seek out and advise the company on strategies to reduce litigation risk in the conduct of the business. Assist the Government Investigations group as needed and applicable in the conduct and resolution of government investigations. Represent firm's business and legal interests in the development and delivery of products and services over its networks and related platforms and systems. Provides legal counsel in a particular subject area of expertise and/or to a specific business unit or units. Dispenses legal knowledge and expertise impacting business operations. Works closely with executives and management. Performs legal research when and as necessary to resolve legal issues and determine the appropriate course of action regarding a particular issue/case. Consults with and supervises outside counsel to develop legal strategies and resolve issues in non-routine matters. Operates with minimal supervision and coordinates legal functions with other departments affected by the matter/issue. Provides mentorship and guidance to junior level attorneys and may have direct management responsibilities for non-attorney legal specialists. Consistent exercise of sound judgment and discretion in all matters. Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s), and overtime as necessary. Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance. The candidate should have Juris Doctor degree and 5-8 years of commercial litigation experience with a major law firm and/or corporation. Must be a Member of the Pennsylvania State Bar (or the ability to waive into Penn. State Bar). Substantial experience in U.S. antitrust law and litigation strong plus. Experience with or knowledge of the Communications Act, TCPA, FCRA, FDCPA, and general real estate law a plus. Familiarity with the broadband, video, telephony, and home security businesses, and the technologies utilized therein, a strong plus.
