Counsel, Mortgage Compliance and Privacy Candidate will be responsible for overseeing compliance with mortgage industry and state licensing regulations at mortgage brokerage franchising business and for developing educational materials for franchisees on compliance responsibilities regarding loan origination. Will assist with other compliance matters, including privacy compliance and training, and may assist in other corporate and contractual matters. Advise on legal and regulatory matters related to the mortgage franchising business. Help maintain compliance with federal consumer financial law and similar state law. Track, and communicate within the business, changes to such laws. Administer the company s compliance management program. Ensure regulatory policies and procedures are current and comprehensive. Develop and deliver training and documentation to employees, franchisees and loan originators in all aspects of mortgage-related compliance. Ensure compliance of mortgage business marketing materials aimed at consumers and potential loan originators. Develop and update training materials regarding regulatory compliance for mortgage brokers and loan originators. In conjunction with the Assistant General Counsel and the General Counsel/Chief Compliance Officer, advise on compliance and privacy issues in other areas of the business. Assist with Privacy and Cybersecurity Compliance and Training. Cross-support for other attorney responsibilities on an as-needed basis, as assigned by Assistant General Counsel and the General Counsel/Chief Compliance Officer. Will report to the Assistant General Counsel. Candidate should have J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school and 3-5 years of practice in a corporate legal or compliance department with experience in the mortgage origination industry. Law firm experience may be an acceptable substitute depending on the nature of the practice. Substantial knowledge of federal consumer financial laws related to mortgage origination, such as RESPA section 8 and the Loan Originator Compensation Rule, and state licensing regulations is needed. Familiarity with privacy laws is required. Admission to the Colorado Bar, or active admission to another state s bar and willingness to become admitted in Colorado (Single-Client Counsel Certification under C.R.C.P. 204.1 may be considered only for attorneys from non-reciprocal jurisdictions who are ineligible for admission on motion).
