Assistant General Counsel - Corporate The candidate is responsible for reviewing, drafting, negotiating and interpreting contracts. The position reviews and provides advice regarding all contracts for the procurement of goods and services for the company. Advises internal clients regarding the company's rights and obligations under existing contracts. Should be able to perform ALL of the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the actual job performance requirements. Reviews and negotiates all contracts for the procurement of goods and services companywide. Serves as the primary legal department liaison to the Purchasing team. Ensures that all contracts are approved internally prior to execution in accordance with the firm s contracting policy. Provides legal advice to Facility Support Center and facility staff as needed regarding all contract issues. Provides advice on statutory and other legal requirements regarding contract issues. Maintains professional contact through national, state and local bar association activities and other professional associations involved in corrections and procurement. Maintains professional competency through continuing legal education and educational seminars relative to corrections and procurement. Must be a graduate from an accredited college or university with a Juris Doctor degree and authorization to practice law in Tennessee. Must have contract or other transactional experience. Strong analytical and negotiating skills as well as verbal and written communication skills are required. Knowledge of government procurements is desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required. A valid driver's license is required.
