Corporate Counsel The candidate will be providing expertise and hands-on review for legal affairs in connection with zoning analysis, land use planning laws and regulations, in addition to review of legislative bills, proposals and statutes in efforts to mitigate the company s cost towards outside counsel. The incumbent must possess deep technical knowledge in zoning, regulations, land use laws and related state and local government affairs. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Serve as the recognized subject matter expert in the area of land use law and regulations, zoning regulations and related state and local government affairs. Review, analyze and offer counsel on zoning ordinances and land use planning laws and regulations. Review, draft and negotiate legislative bills and amendments to existing statutes. Participate in the oversight of pending land use, zoning and permitting matters, while assisting with litigation support as needed. Provide assistance on an as-needed basis with other regulatory compliance matters. Other projects and duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: May direct activities of administrative support staff and legal assistants as assigned by Associate General Counsel and General Counsel. The candidate should have BA/BS. Juris Doctorate degree required. Should have 3-5 years of experience in real estate transactions including, but not limited to zoning and land use regulatory matters. Telecommunications industry experience preferred. Knowledge of state and local legislative process strongly preferred. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area and volume. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Current Bar admittance in a U.S. state and the ability to qualify as Authorized House Counsel with the Florida Bar if not currently admitted in Florida.
