Assistant General Counsel II Litigation Under the direction of the Associate General Counsel, responsible for representing the interests of internal FMCNA business clients in investigations, negotiations, litigation and appeals. Provides litigation support on the company s behalf or coordinates litigation and other legal matters handled by outside counsel. Provides general legal opinions and advice to FMCNA personnel on a variety of litigation and potential litigation matters in areas including commercial disputes, medical malpractice, product liability, premises liability, real estate disputes, physician privileging and other healthcare litigation issues. Manages and supports commercial and general liability litigation matters, provides legal support on litigation and/or liability oriented questions or issues to all divisions of FMCNA. Litigates claims. Develops and directs trial and/or settlement strategies, reviews pleadings, assists outside legal counsel in discovery, and ensures adherence to task and budget through conclusion of litigation. Reviews policies and procedures, advises FMCNA personnel. Provides scheduled progress updates by phone and in person to senior management, outside legal counsel and FMCNA business clients. Negotiates settlement agreements. Prepares memoranda for litigation. Reviews and revises pleadings. Conducts internal and external investigations. Carries out administrative responsibilities across a large range and volume of active and potential litigation matters. Duties include : organizing documents, maintaining/supervising electronic case files, updating information in law department databases, participating in litigation group team meetings. Other duties as assigned.

The candidate should have Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited school required. Admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, or admitted to practice in any State. Should have 5+ years ?¢ related experience as a practicing attorney handling complex litigation matters and investigations. Healthcare experience preferred. Ability to work independently and manage numerous complex legal issues simultaneously with minimum supervision. Ability to communicate effectively with management, corporate and support staff, field personnel, attorneys, witnesses and experts. Ability to present to sophisticated business clients with confidence and clarity, and thrive in a team-oriented environment. Excellent legal research skills. Excellent writing skills with demonstrated experience in the preparation of legal documents. Strong oral and written communication skills. Proficient with PCs and Microsoft Office applications.
