Corporate Counsel - Employment and Benefit Law The candidate will be responsible for support of human resources in the U.S. with oversight and coordination of issues arising internationally. Develop and implement employment and benefits best practices and procedures globally. Develop and implement training programs on a variety of topics for human resources and the business. Provide health and welfare plan counseling and qualified retirement plan counseling. Ensure compliance regarding Plan filings (IRS, DOL), document requirements (including plan document maintenance and amendments, SPDs / SMMs, SARS), responding to periodic DOL, IRS and internal audits, HIPAA and ACA compliance. Provide real-time support to internal collective bargaining teams during union negotiations and work with Corporate Labor Relations to develop bargaining strategy in advance thereof. Responsible for project and matter management with limited supervision; exercise independent judgment. Manage employment claims and litigation. Share in management of outside counsel relationships. Provide support and leadership in legal department projects. May supervise and/or mentor one or more junior lawyers, paralegals or administrative assistants. Act as a resource to other sand a member of a global team. Should have experience advising and counseling clients regarding employment health and retirement benefits. Traditional Labor experience is a plus.
