Legal Counsel (Privacy) RESPONSIBILITIES: Advise on day-to-day marketing issues (emails and associated consents). Review and advise on contracts for multiple business groups. Maintain EU-US data transfer requirements. Assisting in conducting assessments and maintaining assessment and data mapping. Provide support for data breach response. Respond to customer complaints, including SARs. Share responsibility for updating and maintaining template guidance and forms. Deliver training to various groups on privacy awareness, and maintain and update existing training materials. Log and maintain privacy policy versions and support the management and updating of all policies. Update and maintain privacy pages on corporate intranet and add resources as they are developed. Manage and log interactions with Regulators and maintain and notifications/registrations required. Assist with tracking of data protection clauses used in templates; MSA, affiliate agreements, employee contracts etc track versions and dates etc. Coordinate data and privacy assessment and audits of vendors, risk and data mapping. Keep up with new developments in privacy laws. QUALIFICATIONS: Solicitor (or equivalent) qualification. Proven experience with a top law firm and/or experience working in a dynamic, in-house legal environment; experience in a multinational legal department a plus. Strong foundational knowledge of data protection laws in the United Kingdom; some familiarity with requirements in other EU member states and with the new GDPR. Understanding of Internet architecture and related technologies preferable. Self starter and creative thinker comfortable with operating in a visionary environment. Capable of assessing and communicating risk within the context of dynamic business goals. Ability to work on a wide range of matters at a time. Ability to appropriately prioritise work. Track record of establishing strong working relationships with internal/external business clients and within the legal department/law firm. Fluency in English required; competency in additional languages a plus.
