Senior Director Employment Counsel The candidate will be responsible for employment law matters, employment litigation management and other matters. Will advise corporate and local management on various aspects of workforce development and administration, including hiring, termination, discipline, promotion, employment and compliance policies and procedures, and drug and alcohol policies, programs and testing. Provide guidance regarding labor and employment law compliance, including WARN, FMLA, FLSA, EEOC and ADA. Prepare and otherwise assist on matters related to employment, severance and other employee related agreements. Conduct internal investigations and provide guidance on those investigations conducted by others. Oversee company responses to EEOC complaints including oversight of internal investigation, interviewing witnesses, gathering documents and drafting employer statements of position. Negotiate benefits and other Human Resources related vendor service contracts and assist in their interpretation. Maintain a current, in-depth knowledge of employment related laws and regulations relevant to the company s business and conduct legal research and prepare recommendations as appropriate. Manage employment Litigation. Manage high volume of employment litigation and pre-litigation matters, both insured and uninsured. Research, select and manage outside counsel to represent the company on employment litigation matters, including efficient management of employment litigation costs and outside counsel fees. Oversee and direct outside counsel and insurance adjusters on strategy and case management. Assist in drafting and review of court documents, including answers, briefs, motions, settlement agreements, etc. Provide advice to business units regarding employment litigation issues and risk mitigation strategies. Draft legal memoranda and provide legal advice regarding various issues as assigned by VP Employment Law. Maintain a current, in-depth knowledge of laws and regulations relevant to the company s business and conduct legal research and prepare recommendations as appropriate. Collaborate on legal matters in area of responsibility with attorneys, clients, and outside counsel.

The candidate must have a Juris Doctorate degree from accredited college or university with strong academic credentials. Should be a Member of New York Bar. Must have 10+ years of PQE. Experience representing clients in employment and traditional labor law matters and in depth knowledge of employment law in law firm or corporate setting is required. Litigation management experience is preferable. Should have strong analytical and communication (oral and written), organizational, negotiation and management skills. Must have demonstrated ability to partner effectively with business clients in a collaborative environment to achieve business objectives. Adequate professional experience and knowledge to perform is needed. Proficiency in using MS Office Suite and Windows-based computer applications is required.
