Legal Counsel- Employment The candidate work within and build the firm s North American employment based support. Will work with a global team of professionals tasked with providing advice, counsel and strategy on employment related matters. Will be expected to: Team with other members of company's legal team to provide thought leadership and advice to company's internal HR function; Provide counsel on employee benefits, employment agreements and policy related issues, Independent contractor issues, FMLA and reasonable accommodation matters and employment related litigation; Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and policies; Participate in and influence the decision-making process with appropriate clients and stakeholders. Identify and assess legal risks and opportunities within the labor and employment area and advise accordingly. Independently handle legal matters and projects ranging from basic to complex. Provide trainings around employment related topics. Perform other duties as assigned or required. The candidate should have 5-7 years of employment experience, combination of law firm and in-house experience preferred. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to deliver presentations to large audiences. Should have superior analytical skills and creative problem solving ability, with an appreciation for striking a practical balance between business and legal objectives and for big picture capabilities in problem solving. Should have organizational skills and composure: ability to juggle multiple initiatives and short and long term priorities in a challenging fast paced environment. Must have ability to focus on the most critical issues that have the highest impact on the organization and business needs; and Ability to work effectively with significant ambiguity and fluctuating priorities and constraints.
