Counsel, Labor and Employment The candidate will counsel Human Resources on compliance with state and federal employment laws including Title VII, ADEA, ADA, FMLA and FLSA; review and update employment policies, including employee handbooks, bonus plans, compensation guidelines and severance programs; train and advise HR on recent developments in employment law; support Labor Relations and factory HR partners in responding to union grievances and information requests, determining mandatory subjects of bargaining and implementing the Company s union avoidance strategy; conduct legal review (including adverse impact analyses and WARN assessments) of workforce reductions, consolidations and restructurings. Draft and submit position statements, responses to information requests and other responsive submissions in state and federal administrative agencies matters; represent in mediations and negotiate and draft settlement and separation agreements; respond to and resolve pre-litigation demands. Oversee outside counsel in L&E matters, including establishing case strategy, reviewing and approving pleadings, discovery responses and dispositive motions and briefs, among other dispute management tasks; manage outside counsel spend to budget. Should have 6+ years of labor and employment experience; law firm experience required, prior in-house experience preferred. Should have JD degree from an accredited law school; member of the Illinois State Bar in good standing.
