Senior Counsel, Compliance and Litigation The candidate: Requires hands-on litigation experience, including drafting pleadings, motion practice, preparing witnesses as well as deposition and some trial experience. Actively manages and partners with outside counsel on litigation matters. Maintain strong relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Support and conduct effective corporate investigations. Keeps abreast of issues and developments in specialty areas by reading articles, attending professional conferences and conferring with professional experts. Maintain and execute components of a comprehensive compliance program. Enhance Global Compliance s enterprise strategy focused on providing engaging, relevant and impactful compliance and training to employees. Create innovative training solutions, including video content, virtual training and other mechanisms to deliver compliance training on compliance risk areas, tailored to Andeavor employees, responsibilities and oversight. Ensure that training records are tracked, maintained and archived, including relating to work in support of legal filings by Andeavor to regulatory bodies. Assist in the design and lead a strategy to convey compliance and ethics messages across Andeavor and tailored, role-based messages to key employee groups. This includes: company-wide compliance communications, company newsletters, role-based communications, Global Compliance campaigns and other forms of communication as part of Andeavor's Global Compliance program. Advance the effective coordination and collaboration with all key functions including but not limited to HR, Internal Audit, Corporate Security and all our business partners. Ensure that communications records are tracked, maintained and archived, including relating to work in support of legal filings by Andeavor to regulatory bodies. Define project goals, create corresponding project plans, meet schedules, resolve issues and develop performance goals. Establish and maintain metrics and reporting to reflect effectiveness of Global Compliance programs. Present updates, findings, and recommendations to internal counterparts and business unit leaders at all levels of the organization as needed for project assignments. Assess existing as well as develop new tools and processes related to training. Maintain a high degree of interest in professional development and continuous improvement. Attend relevant compliance training sessions and conferences. Proactively identify opportunities where Global Compliance can add value. Contribute to the establishment of policies for compliance impacting the company. Interpret, execute, and recommend modifications to company-wide policies. Develop and/or identify new work processes that will have broad applicability companywide. Set direction and objectives for direct reports and/or project team members. Coaches direct reports in objective setting, regular communication and feedback, development activities and appropriate reward/recognition. Manage Global Compliance resources and budget associated with communications and training initiatives. Ensures complete, accurate, and timely reporting of expenses and work to efficiently allocate resources and optimize the performance of the organization. JD degree required. Must have current license to practice law in the United States. Should have 6+ years of experience with a major law firm or corporation. 10+ years of experience with litigation practice and management; compliance matters; and compliance program development; preferred.
