Senior Counsel Litigation The candidate will oversight dockets covering a wide variety of disputes, including subject matters relating to personal injury and premises liability, commercial disputes and general legal support. Will participate on lead teams and providing strategic legal advice to businesses/specialty areas. May have direct reports and will manage teams and projects. Manage litigation matters involving the organization, keeping colleagues and internal clients apprised of developments. Analyze claims, including gathering facts, interviewing participants, reviewing key documents, determining relevant information, custodians and witnesses. Develop, prepare and present case theories and strategies, including eDiscovery strategies, as well as a range of acceptable outcomes, working collaboratively with internal clients and outside counsel where appropriate. Develop and manage litigation budgets, including eDiscovery, attempting to identify efficiencies and cost savings where possible. Prepare and deliver written and oral presentations to internal clients, including senior executives, on legal issues. Identify suitable outside counsel for large/complex litigation; negotiate rates and alternative fee arrangements. Learn business and industry inside and out. Insure consistent implementation of legal department SOP s. Manage outside counsel. Understand the business industry. Key changes in the law. Must have 7+ years of tort and commercial litigation experience. Trial experience in general litigation with preferred subject matter expertise in personal injury and/or premises liability is required. Excellent written communications are required. Should have knowledge of complex litigation and trial practice.
