Senior Counsel (Employment) The candidate will serve as counsel responsible for employment law matters, employment litigation management and other matters as may be assigned from time to time. Will provide advice and counsel to management and HR professionals on all aspects of day-to-day employment-related matters, including hiring and termination issues, harassment, discrimination and retaliation, leaves of absence, wage and hour issues, restrictive covenants, conflicts of interest, independent contractor issues and employee investigations. Investigate and represent the company at the administrative level (EEOC, DOL, equivalent state and local agencies). Prepare position statements and bring in outside counsel, when appropriate. Manage employment litigation and pre-litigation matters, both insured and uninsured. Research, select and proactively manage outside counsel to represent the company on employment litigation matters, including efficient management of employment litigation costs and outside counsel fees. Review involuntary terminations and draft separation packages, as appropriate. Provide advice to various business units regarding employment litigation issues and risk mitigation strategies. Conduct internal investigations on issues such as alleged sexual harassment and other alleged discriminatory conduct. Manage employment litigation, reviewing pleadings, developing strategy with outside counsel, facilitating the gathering of information (documents, interviews); making recommendations at key stages in the process. Advise with respect to and approve firm employment-related policies, develop and recommend operating policy and procedural improvements. Provide guidance on best practices pursuant to legal guidelines and maintaining a respectful workplace, and assist with the resolution of workplace issues. Review, interpret, and draft company policies and procedures. Conduct basic legal research and prepare opinions. Stay up-to-date on changes in employment and labor laws and provide tailored advice to stakeholders on any policy, process or other change. Provide legal advice in ethics investigations; may be asked to serve as lead investigator in high-level or sensitive matters.

The candidate should have JD degree from a well-regarded, U.S. accredited law school. Must have 6 years of experience in employment law and litigation. Experience in relevant function with another major corporation or law firm preferred. Experience with employments and benefits matters required. Current Bar membership in a U.S. jurisdiction required. Proficiency in MS Office applications is required.
