Counsel 3 Litigation The candidate will be responsible for managing litigation for the Wholesale businesses, domestically and internationally, which include corporate securities, capital markets, investment banking, corporate and commercial banking, corporate trust, asset-backed financing, swaps and derivatives, among others. Retains and manages outside counsel as needed. Represents company in negotiations and settlements with outside parties and counsel. Develops and maintains relationships with key internal business unit constituencies and provides ongoing legal advice. Reports to a Managing Counsel within the General Litigation and Enforcement Section. The candidate should have active State Bar membership. Should have 5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney. 5+ years of prior defensive litigation management experience relevant to the Wholesale businesses or matters of similar complexity is preferred. Prior in-house counsel experience is a plus. Extensive knowledge and understanding of research, counsel, and guidance on complex legal questions or inquiries is desired. Should have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Must have effective organizational, multi tasking, and prioritizing skills. Should have strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy. Must have strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills. Strong research skills are needed. Should have ability to work effectively under direct supervision and follow specific guidelines. Must have intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills. Ability to analyze legal issues in substantive law in area of practice and provide effective advice to clients on complex legal matters is preferred.
