Litigation Attorney The candidate will primarily provide Company with in-house legal advice and services relating to product liability, class actions, regulatory/governmental inquiries, and warranty law (lemon law). Will supervise litigation paralegal and legal support staff in providing in-house legal services on warranty laws (lemon law claims, lawsuits, subrogation matters) and related consumer affairs and service issues. May provide legal services on related legal matters involving consumer affairs, service, and other Company-related legal matters. May provide in-house legal services relating to class actions, product liability issues (early warning, product liability claims and lawsuits, subrogation claims and lawsuits) and regulatory/governmental compliance issues. Coordinate with Legal department management and outside legal counsel to manage and resolve warranty-related litigation, proceedings and claims. In coordination with Assistant General Counsel/Director, Legal Affairs and Director, Product Litigation and Regulatory Compliance, to help manage and provide legal advice and services relating to the following legal areas: Company's Product Liability issues (including but not limited to early warning matters, product liability claims and lawsuits and subrogation matters); Governmental/Regulatory compliance issues; and Service/Consumer Affairs issues (including but not limited to quality assurance issues, warranty reimbursement issues, warranty claims audit and consumer claims/consumer goodwill.). Provide Company with legal advice and legal services relating to warranty law (lemon law) and various related activities as assigned, including Owner s Manual Reviews. In coordination with Managing Corporate Counsel, assist in the Legal Department s workload, including providing in-house legal services relating to general litigation, corporate litigation, and Legal Department Assistance requests. Work with Assistant General Counsel/Director, Legal Affairs and Director, Product Litigation and Regulatory Compliance, and General Counsel/VP Legal and HRA, Legal Department staff, and outside legal counsel to coordinate resolution of all pending Company-related corporate and general litigation. Supervise and train paralegals, legal assistants, legal secretaries, and other support staff in lemon law or product liability litigation and related legal work. Must have Bachelor s degree. Should have Juris Doctor (J.D.) Degree from an ABA-accredited law school in the U.S. Must have California State Bar Admission. Should have 8+ years of experience in product liability or warranty litigation experience. Prior experience in automotive-related litigation other than lemon law (such as product liability) preferred. Prior in-house attorney experience is a plus. Technical or engineering background and training helpful. Must have prior demonstrated managerial, organizational and interpersonal communications (verbal and written) skills.
