AVP Litigation Counsel The candidate will be responsible for Implements strategic objectives with substantial impact on the short-term success for Litigation Counsel Offices in assigned region(s). Works to contain legal expenses in assigned region(s) through effective allocation of personnel, materials and equipment. Leads, directs and has full management accountability for staff in area of responsibility with an emphasis on optimizing talent and succession planning in accordance with corporate strategic direction. Acts as liaison to the Claims department to ensure maximum file referrals to Staff Counsel. Reports to senior management on a regular basis on performance and/or any emerging or current issues.

The candidate should have Bachelor's degree with JD and a license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction, or equivalent with 10+ years practicing law including insurance defense, with five years management experience. Should have in-depth technical knowledge of theories and practices within insurance law, regulatory issues, litigation and working knowledge in other related fields. Ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of external and/or internal business partners within scope of responsibility, team and/or matrix environment. Leadership and management skills demonstrating integrity and professionalism. Ability to drive results by identifying, and resolving problems within scope of responsibility. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software. Stays informed on relevant insurance industry trends. Uses Metrics and information analysis and accesses technology resources as needed. Builds a competitive organization by attracting, managing, developing and retaining the talent needed to win. Value driven to provide superior solutions to internal and/or external customers. Acts with a sense of urgency to advance priorities of the organization. Helps others to excel through collaboration and building strong relationships. Thinks creatively and uses diverse ideas to solve problems. Raises expectations of self and others by continuously learning and broadening industry and technical skills.
