Senior Counsel Employment Law, Director The candidate will focus on employment counseling and related litigation and transactional matters. This Vice President position reports to the Associate General Counsel. Advice and counsel to management and HR professionals on a broad range of employment issues, including: recruiting, hiring, employee relations, discipline and termination, internal investigations, reductions-in-force, leaves of absence, disability accommodations, wage and hour compliance, employee benefits, compensation, and ethics. Negotiation and documentation of executive compensation arrangements. Strategic advice and counsel on development and implementation of employment policies and procedures. Work closely with all levels of Human Resources staff to provide sound, ethical and practical legal service and advice. Manage and respond to agency charges and attorney demand letters as necessary. Direct outside counsel and manage budget on employment litigation matters. Conduct manager and human resources training.

The candidate should have J.D. and excellent academic credentials. 10+ years of experience in employment counseling and litigation is required. Ideal candidate with have senior-level experience at both a law firm with a strong employment law practice and as in-house counsel in a highly regulated environment (financial services preferred). Strong knowledge of California and federal employment laws and regulations are needed. Should have excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills.
