Senior Counsel - Labor And Employment The candidate will be responsible for general corporate matters and litigation management as it relates to labor relations and employment matters. Provide expert advice and counsel to business leaders, Human Resources and other internal customers on wide range of labor and employment matters including those that intersect with Department of Transportation/FMCSA regulations. Assign and manage outside counsel when needed. Ensure outside counsel perform services in accordance with expectations. Oversee their work in assessing risks, strategy development and active management of assigned matters. Enforce adherence to budgets and outside counsel guidelines, ultimately achieving successful outcomes. Work with Human Resources to draft position statements and other responsive pleadings to actions filed with state and federal administrative agencies alleging violations of state and federal labor and employment laws and regulations. Represent the Company in mediations and negotiate settlement agreements. Review, draft and revise employment related agreements and policies. Proactively research various issues including, developments in labor and employment law. Facilitate on-going initiatives and educating business leaders on employee relations best practices, and training on union related issues. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which facilitates the success of business operations in order to meet company demands and expectations. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership; some travel may be required. Support business and legal aspects of the Company and operations as needed. Knowledge of CA employment laws is preferred. Must have Law Degree. Should have JD degree from accredited law school with superior academic records admitted to at least one state bar. Must have 5+ years of experience at a prestigious law firm or sophisticated in-house legal department.
