Litigation Counsel The candidate will be responsible for managing and directing a wide variety of commercial and business litigation. Will be responsible for selection and management of outside counsel, expert witnesses, and trial consultants, and will interact with senior legal management and business leaders. The successful candidate will provide business partners with ongoing advice regarding litigation strategy and tactics, including status of cases, analysis, risk exposure, choice of outside counsel, reputational issues, precedential impact and other considerations. Work with the business team on a variety of issues, primarily litigation and investigations. Work closely with the in-house legal team to best manage global legal risk. Effectively manage outside counsel and related matter budgets. Assess sources of disputes and work with business partners to proactively avoid issues. Support organization-wide legal projects and initiatives, as necessary. Provide counsel on additional matters as needed and directed by management. Should have JD degree from an ABA accredited law school. Must be a member in good standing of any state bar (if not already admitted in North Carolina, the successful candidate will need to obtain a North Carolina in-house bar admission). Should have 7+ years of a combination of law firm and in-house litigation experience. A concentration in business and commercial litigation is essential. Experience with claims and litigation on behalf of the food industry will be considered a plus. A strong background in litigating and managing complex commercial and business disputes and cases. Experience in handling class actions and food law and food safety matters or other regulatory claims and litigation will be considered a plus. Antitrust experiences are also a plus.
