Associate General Counsel, Commercial and Corporate Business Functions The candidate will manage a team of attorneys providing innovative and strategic legal support and solutions related to commercialization of the Company s products. Will manage and coordinate outside legal services and manages the portion of the Legal Affairs budget dedicated to support outside legal services supporting the Company s commercial brands. Monitor current developments germane to the pharmaceutical industry and legal issues generally in order to provide on proactive basis timely information valuable to the Company s Commercial Brands and/or various business functions on developing legal and business/commercial issues. Oversees the effective delivery of legal services to the Company s Commercial Brand Teams on promotional and advertising materials, messaging, and strategy relating to the Company s commercial products. At all-time maintains strong awareness of the operations of the Marketing, Managed Markets, and Sales Training Departments and ensures successful relationships with such department. Manages a team of attorneys who work as part of interdepartmental brand teams to review promotional and advertising materials, training materials, program designs, as well as vendor contracting support and develops legal strategies and programs which maximize business opportunity and minimize legal risks to the Company and commercial brands. Ensures consistent and timely legal review and analysis across all brands. Advises senior management and brand teams about key issues regarding same. Proposes and manages legal projects to support the mission of the Company. Reports to and consults with supervisor regarding significant, mission critical, and strategic issues. Manages team of attorneys providing innovative and strategic legal support and solutions related to commercialization of the Company s products. Additionally responsible for managing lawyers assigned to act as and/or acting as lead lawyer to specific corporate business functions as assigned across the commercial and administrative function and/or the Company such as, for example, Human Resources, Compliance, Finance, IT, Managed Markets, Marketing, Sales Training, Supply Chain, etc. Leads cross-functional project teams to address new Company initiatives or special projects internal to Daiichi Sankyo as well as projects involving external business partners and/or other entities as may be identified by the General Counsel. Under the supervision of the General Counsel, develop overall legal risk management strategies for the company in key corporate business areas. Supervises trains, manages, and delegates work assignments to attorneys reporting to this position. Ensures that the legal support that is provided is of high quality, provided in a proactive, timely, consistent, and value-added manner. Ensures legal staff maintains successful relationships with peers and colleagues within the Legal Affairs Department and other departments in the organization. Serves as a first resource, mentor and advisor to attorneys reporting to this position. Provides guidance and training to attorney including fraud & abuse issues, review of promotional materials, reimbursement/rebate/pricing, business contracting support, relationship management, etc. Creates, implements and presents training programs and materials on legal issues for various departments, including for Finance. Monitors current developments in several key legal areas and provides Senior Management and other business leaders with updates regarding same. Leads or participates on cross-functional project management teams set up to address mid-sized to large Company-driven initiatives or special projects internal to the Company as well as project involving external business partners and/or other entities. Works independently and, as appropriate, in collaboration with other departments in developing, implementing and presenting training materials on various legal issues pertaining to assigned business areas. Such training materials may be presented to functions supported by this position (or by them) but would also be available for use by the Legal Affairs Department generally.

The candidate must have a Bachelor s Degree from an accredited college or university. JD degree and Bar Admission in NJ (direct admission or eligible for limited in-house licensing in NJ) is required. Should have 10+ years of post-law school experience, including broad pharmaceutical industry experience, in multiple disciplines (Food Drug & Cosmetic Act, Anti-Kickback, Antitrust, Clinical Drug Development, International Law, etc.). 5+ years of experience in review process of promotional material and/or commercial regulatory experience is required. Experience in Oncology products preferred. 8 or more years of in-house pharmaceutical legal experience is needed. Familiarity in other legal disciplines also preferred (for example, Employment Law, Benefits and ERISA law, acting as legal advisor to other business functions is must (such as Finance, IT, auditing, compliance, etc. also preferred.)
