Employment Attorney The candidate provides legal advice and counsel on behalf of the Dispute Resolution Services Employment Law team. Collaborates with and aligns on strategy, action planning, and communication with Human Resources, business units, other areas of Law and Regulation and outside counsel. Proactively counsels clients on emerging legal issues and risk. Counsels clients on strategic initiatives, and serves on project teams as needed to provide legal advice. Conducts research, substantive drafting, reviewing, advising, and negotiating for more complex matters. Provides employment-related legal advice and counsel to the Company's human resource professionals and business partners. This responsibility includes, legal research and oral and written advice on a broad range of employment and labor law issues, e.g., terminations and discipline, reorganizations, reductions in force, leaves of absence, reasonable accommodations, wage and hour considerations, compensation plans, harassment and discrimination investigations and outcomes. Plans and develops solutions to existing or potential legal problems involving the Company, and advises management concerning legal risk mitigation and its legal rights and obligations. Reviews and drafts corporate personnel policies and employee communications. Identifies and develops appropriate compliance strategies to ensure company-wide compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws. Investigates and responds to attorney demand letters. Reviews vendor agreements for co-employment issues. Conducts due diligence reviews for acquisitions/divestitures and negotiates/drafts employment-related provisions. Prepares and presents training to business and HR partners on various employment law issues, including ADA, terminations, reductions in force, immigration, FLSA, NLRB, ERISA.

The candidate must be possesses a JD degree and a license to practice law in Illinois (and/or other states as required). Should have 10+ years of related experience. Strong practice experience in Title VII, ADA, ADEA/OWBPA, FLSA, WARN, FMLA, paid sick leave, and wrongful termination matters is required. Computer skills, including MS Office suite, used in or related to the tasks performed is must. Relevant experience within a reputable law firm or an in-house legal department for a mid- to large-sized organization is essential.
