Associate General Counsel and Compliance The candidate will draft, review and edit leases, licenses, agreements, including management agreements and service agreements. Review retained counsels drafts for various actions/claims to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Receive, process and manage litigation involving RMC. Stay abreast of changes in all laws applicable to the real estate industry including but not limited to affordable housing, rent regulation, OSHA and other laws, and their interpretations and initiate training to facilitate appropriate changes company wide. Review proposed regulatory agreements as submitted by development and acquisition teams and provide comments timely. Pursuing and maintaining current, comprehensive knowledge of full scope of compliance programs to which and the sites under firm s management must comply and assuring awareness of and procedural guidelines for administering and maintaining compliance with those programs. Assist in preparing and submitting HUD documents for portfolio, such as Management Entity Portfolio, Project Owner s Certification for Owner-Managed Multifamily Housing Projects, Affirmative Fair Housing Marketing Plans, Tenant Selection Plans, and lease packages, etc. Develop procedural guidelines for administering and maintaining compliance with the applicable programs. Work with Owners, Asset Managers, Operations, Regional Vice Presidents and Regional Managers to design, assign, schedule, carry-out a comprehensive internal audit function with appropriate follow-up to monitor and assure company-wide compliance. Review forms used at operating assets to ensure consistency across the portfolio. Create and conduct various training materials in accordance with operating asset classes. Partner with our operations teams and training group in assuring that our front-line staff and their managers have up-to-date, comprehensive, training resources to support their operations in the areas above and others as they are identified. Manage individual projects while exhibiting both an enthusiasm for team effort and leadership qualities. Review quarterly and annual owner certifications for accuracy. Respond to inquiries regarding various affordable housing inquiries. Prepare and update Compliance Narratives to summarize regulatory as well as state, city and local requirements for properties. Prepare, with assistance from compliance staff, managers and Regional Managers, for MOR and other relevant agency audits. Draft and review responses to audit findings and provide follow-up to ensure ongoing compliance. Ensure proper communication and strategic alignment within portfolios.

The candidate should have Juris Doctor Degree (with 5 years legal experience) and Bachelor's Degree in *** field or equivalent. TaCCs or COS required, BOS is preferred. Strong data management skills with significant attention to detail and strong organizational skills is essential. Proficiency in MS Word and Excel is essential. Section 8/236/LIHTC/Bond program compliance experience is a plus;
