Senior Counsel - Insurance Litigation

Senior Counsel - Insurance Litigation The candidate will work closely with the insurance litigation team on the defense of matters for firm's and its entities in the U.S. and Canada. Will assist in the management of outside counsel on insurance defense matters with a regionalized focus. Manage a small team of other attorneys who are dedicated to a particular region. Analyze claims/litigation to effectively participate in decisions related to resolution strategy. Support new insurance initiatives.

The candidate must have 6+ years of insurance company or law firm experience involving litigating claims/lawsuits covered by Property and Casualty Insurance. Should have strong academic credentials and law degree from a top law school. JD/MBA degree preferred. Must be Member of the bar of at least one state. In-house experience strongly preferred, with the know-how to manage a claim/case from inception through pleadings, motion practice, discovery, dispute resolution and trial. Management or supervisory experience over other attorneys preferred. Solid case evaluation abilities, critical thinking skills, and the capacity to oversee a large portfolio of matters required. First chair mediation or trial experience preferred. Must have Deposition experience (including presenting witnesses and experts). Must possess excellent business judgment, communication and interpersonal skills.
