Counsel - Global Privacy Office The candidate will work closely with product teams for digital offerings such as firm Checkout and the Commerce Network to define and implement user interfaces and processes that protect privacy rights. Advise data analytics functions on laws, contractual obligations, and ethical considerations affecting Big Data analysis and use. Advise teams on privacy-by-design and privacy engineering. Counsel Human Resources on employee privacy issues. Assist the CPO in fulfilling his role as the primary legal advisor to firm global Information Security group, including advising with respect to breach notification requirements. Manage and evolve firm global data use and privacy policies and strategies in coordination with colleagues based around the world, both responding to global legal changes and providing thought leadership on questions for which there is no developed law. Support firm program to comply with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other new privacy laws and regulations. Support advocacy of firm data and privacy positions to key external audiences such as regulators and influencers. Train colleagues in key parts of the company on privacy laws and other factors that define firm's rights and responsibilities with regard to data.

The candidate must have Juris Doctor degree or foreign equivalent with strong academic credentials. Admission to practice law in one U.S. jurisdiction is required. Should have 5-8 years of combined major law firm and in-house practice with 5+ years of in-depth experience with multiple privacy laws, including PCI/ GLBA, GDPR/EU Data Protection Directive, US State Privacy Laws, or other international privacy/data protection and multi-jurisdictional regulations and requirements. Strong understanding of IT, web technologies (especially those used in the collection, storage and analysis of data), mobile and connected devices is required. Experience providing practical advice to clients on data use and privacy issues is needed. Understanding of online advertising, including underlying tracking technologies is preferred. Understanding of cybersecurity and network monitoring and security is desired. Understanding of management of personal data in the HR context is a plus. Privacy program management experience is helpful. Experience in the payments industry is helpful. One or more CIPP certification(s) is an asset. Experience in drafting privacy policies and notices is preferred. Excellent computer skills (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint) is desired.
