Assistant General Counsel, Wealth and Investment Management Litigation

Assistant General Counsel, Wealth and Investment Management Litigation The candidate will lead the Wealth and Investment Management Litigation Section of the Legal Department. Drive the Section to provide expert, creative, timely and consistent support for those litigation needs. Work with other leaders in the Department to advance and coordinate Company and Department goals. Serve as a legal advisor to senior management of the Wealth and Investment Management businesses, including strategic planning and risk management. Train, develop and evaluate members of the Section. Follow and ensure consistent application of Company and Department policies and procedures, including the management of outside counsel. Participate as a member of the Litigation and Workout Division s leadership team. Serve as dotted line leadership support for certain regulatory or investigative activities related to the retail brokerage business carried out by the Regulatory Enforcement and Investigation Section. Substantial experience providing effective and strategic legal advice to senior executive leaders on complex legal issues of enterprise significance such as employment matters is essential. Must have 10+ years of practicing as an attorney with a major law firm, banking regulatory agency, or in-house law department, including 4+ years of representing financial services firms in banking regulatory or transactional activities. Should have 4+ years of management experience leading large teams of attorneys and other legal professionals practicing in the area of banking regulatory or transactional activities in a major law firm, banking regulatory agency or in-house law department. Active State Bar membership is a must. Should preferably have leadership and management experience for multiple legal divisions and managers with staff representation across multiple geographic locations. Experience leading and managing one or more legal sections and managers with staff representation across multiple geographic locations is a plus. Should preferably have significant experience providing legal advice and support to retail brokerages. Close Date: 06/20/2018.
