Counsel / Senior Counsel - Litigation

Counsel / Senior Counsel - Litigation The candidate will focus on independently managing a large docket of complex commercial disputes in multiple jurisdictions from cradle to grave, as well as, providing legal advice in anticipation of litigation. LL.M. or JD degree is required from an ABA accredited law school. Licensed to practice law in Texas and/or Louisiana is needed. Should have 8+ years of relevant experience practicing litigation with emphasis on oil & gas related matters. Must have experience handling or managing environmental litigation, including legacy litigation, is highly preferred. Experience with environmental contamination cases in Louisiana is preferred. Experience with environmental litigation in California and/or Colorado is also helpful. Experience with personal injury an toxic tort matters is preferred. Experience is highly preferable with an oil & gas company and / or a top tier law firm is needed. Strong technical knowledge of domestic oil and gas law, including: land owner issues, lease disputes and JOA dispute is needed. Significant experience with electronic discovery is essential. Litigation experience in Texas, Louisiana and Colorado in both state and federal courts are needed. Experience analyzing litigation contingency reserves and SEC disclosures of litigation is needed. Demonstrated experience as a member of a crisis management team is essential. Excellent analytical skills is needed. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written is needed.
