Associate Litigation Counsel

Associate Litigation Counsel RESPONSIBILITIES: Works closely with other corporate departments, such as business, finance, accounting, purchasing, engineering, agricultural, manufacturing, safety, environmental, human resources, and insurance, and with outside counsel, experts, and consultants, to defend claims against the company and its subsidiaries and to provide practical and timely advice to mitigate risk. Manages outside counsel, experts and vendors in litigation, claims, and other disputes in state and federal courts (e.g. negligence, sales/UCC, contracts, insurance), and before administrative agencies (e.g. employment, environmental), including budgeting and invoice review. Assesses business and legal risk associated with litigation, claims and disputes. Provides evaluation of liability and damage issues and negotiates fair and equitable settlements. Manages and coordinates discovery, including litigation holds, information gathering, e-discovery, documents collection and privilege reviews. Maintains the corporate records of litigation, claims, and disputes. Identifies opportunities for efficiencies and coordinates with outside counsel, vendors and colleagues on process improvements. Assists with internal investigations. Evaluates insurance coverage. QUALIFICATIONS: JD Degree from an ABA accredited law school. 7 years of legal experience handling litigation matters in both federal and state court and before administrative agencies. Experience managing outside counsel. Prefer legal experience in industrial manufacturing and agriculture industries. Member in good standing of the Florida Bar. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office suite. Impecable integrity and trust. Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural setting with fellow members of the legal department and employees in other departments. Ability to set priorities and effectively, efficiently and calmly manage multiple time-sensitive projects. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
