Senior Counsel - Employment & Labor Law Duties: Provides high level legal guidance and documentation in support of product development and ongoing operations of the enterprise, and to assure compliance with health insurance, managed care and other relevant regulatory (e.g., privacy/security) requirements. Responsibilities also include providing counsel and legal support to the enterprise through contract and document review, legal advice and representation, analysis of business/legal issues, participation on committees and special projects, etc. Responsibilities may include managing, preparing, assisting and advising on the filing of applications for licenses or other more complex regulatory filings and coordinating the drafting and finalization of subscriber and provider contracts, certificates of coverage, or other forms and information. Provides experienced counsel and legal support to the enterprise through contract and document review, legal advice and representation, analysis of business/legal issues, participation on committees and special projects, assistance with regulatory examinations, etc. Manages, prepares, assists and advises on the filing of applications for licenses or other regulatory and corporate filings as necessary. Coordinates the drafting and finalization of forms and information for regulatory purposes. Researches and advises on existing statutory and regulatory requirements affecting business operations. Reviews and analyzes applicability of new or pending statutes and regulations to existing operations. Assists in implementing new statutory and regulatory requirements. Provides counsel and legal support to the enterprise on other legal matters such as vendor contract review, business transactions, small claims court cases, disputes, arbitration and litigation. Supervise and manage staff as assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent education, training or experience is required. JD Degree /LLB degree with active membership in the state bar. 6+ years' experience as a practice attorney. 5+ years' related experience in the managed care or insurance environment. Organization, project and time management skills and multi-tasking abilities. Strong analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills. Detail oriented with strong negotiation and advocacy skills. Ability to research and analyze complex state and federal statutes and regulations. Advanced skills in organizing and handling complex regulatory filings. Advanced contract and legal document drafting skills. Ability to work in a team, and lead and supervise staff, including attorney, paralegal and administrative support staff. Ability to maintain confidentiality. A working knowledge of health insurance, HIPAA and managed care regulation, including experience interacting with regulators. In-depth knowledge of Delta Dental s policies, procedures and practices.
