Counsel, Intellectual Property The candidate will be advising internal business clients across the enterprise on intellectual property matters, including legal strategies for technology acquisition and development, freedom to operate clearance and generating opinions covering agreement analyses, patents, trademarks, secrecy, and copyright issues. Will be drafting, reviewing and negotiating intellectual property related agreements and clauses including secrecy and non-analysis agreements, technology development agreements, joint operating agreements, licensing and dispute settlement agreements. Proactively engaging individual and group technology contributors to ensure new concepts are captured early, evaluating innovation submissions, preparing recommendations for protection strategy, drafting and prosecuting US patent applications and managing outside counsel for both US and non-US patent preparation & prosecution. Legally authorized to work in the United States are needed. JD degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association is needed. Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state, preferably Texas is essential. Licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office is needed. Should have 1+ year of attorney experience. Bachelor s degree or higher in a technical field is needed. Must have 5+ years direct attorney experience in intellectual property. Should have 1+ years attorney experience combined with 3+ years technical engineering/business experience. Experience in the oil and gas industry. Excellent written and oral communication skills required including the ability to effectively manage and communicate with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work effectively across legal and business functional groups. Dispute resolution experience, namely in IP and contracts. Negotiation, advocacy and presentation skills with mature judgment and discretion.
