Managing Legal Counsel Labor and Employment The Managing Legal Counsel Labor & Employment provides global legal support to BHGE s Human Resources (HR) Group and manages the global L&E legal team from the Company s Houston Headquarters. This position functions as a member of the HR Leadership Team and provides legal advice on strategic HR initiatives, compliance and risks. The Managing Legal Counsel L&E engages across the organization with HR professionals, Operations, Company executives, other in-house counsel, insurance/risk management, government relations, and others to support the employment requirements of the Company. This position supports the four Product Companies of BHGE, proactively identifies global employment legal needs and risks, and delivers timely, practical legal advice to the Company s internal clients. The Managing Legal Counsel L&E reports to the Associate General Counsel - Global Litigation. Essential Responsibilities: Provide advice and counsel on a broad range of Labor & Employment laws and regulations including Human Resources, Compensation and Benefits, Internal Investigations, Immigration, Company Policies and Guidelines, Employee Discipline, and ERISA matters. Provides support for legal employment matters globally and partners with in-house regional counsel and engages external counsel as needed. Manage the Legal L&E Global group, which provides support to firm in over 120 countries. Provide legal and strategic advice to Product Line and Regional Counsel on a global basis. Support HR due diligence teams, advise on risk, and negotiate employment terms and conditions in mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. Manage L&E docket of litigation and administrative claims. Provide legal advice to the firm's HR Leadership Team. Provide required reports to Finance and Chief Human Resources Officer. Provide legal support for administrative matters including EEOC, DOL, OSHA, Workers Compensation and local regulatory agencies. Provide legal support for Union relations and NLRB. Manage Internal Investigations for both HR and Compliance Groups. Review HR provisions of commercial contracts and advise commercial counsel. Track HR legal and policy developments and partner with government affairs on regulatory advocacy projects. Management of outside counsel, consultants and vendors for HR matters.

The candidate should have excellent academic credentials including a J.D. from a top-ranked US law school and admission to practice law in the US. 12 to 15 years Labor & Employment legal experience with strong corporate background. Must be a trusted business partner, with the desire to learn about the Company and its business. Experience with employee benefits and executive compensation issues. Experience with global employment and/or litigation issues, including experience with works councils. Oil & Gas industry experience preferred. Experience advising Senior Corporate Management on risk, including the ability to effectively communicate complex legal and technical issues, make clear recommendations, and exercise sound judgment in elevating and resolving issues. Ability to work in a complex, global matrixed environment. Strong commitment to integrity and professionalism, with a passion for excellence. Outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills; a dedicated, proactive team player with the ability to build rapport with a diverse range of business and legal partners. Some international travel required. Strong oral and written communication skills. Self-confident, self-directed, solution-focused and collaborative personality. Demonstrated experience identifying and resolving legal issues quickly and effectively and ability to make on the spot risk calls. Demonstrated experience prioritizing conflicting demands from multiple business clients in a fast-paced environment. Ability to set and meet multiple priorities, initiative to take on new challenges, and high energy. High level of influencing skills combined with an ability to build excellent working relationships (cross-functionally, globally, at multiple levels, and externally). Ability to deal effectively with people and work in diverse teams. Accountable; Resourceful; Clear thinker.
